Low Key Sunday

I had told myself yesterday that since we didn't have to be at brunch at a specific time today, that I would sleep in as long as I wanted before beginning my long run. Well, 9am rolled around and I was wide awake, so I decided to go and get it over with.

The reason I do my long runs on the treadmill when I'm not training for anything is 1. Because I have a hard time pushing myself hard outside and 2. Our town has the highest rate of pedestrian deaths in our population category. Apparently there are 95 cities in our category. We are number one. Luckily I had a magazine today to take my mind off things. My run actually went really fast.

Don't I look just like Britney?? When I got back to my house, boyfriend was eating breakfast.

Seriously. A bowl full of chocolate raisins. That's how he keeps up his fine physique. We lounged around the house for awhile until we decided to head back over to my dad's for dinner. We had to stop at our local sporting goods store for paintball stuff first.

Boyfriend took my brother-in-law's little brother paintballing for the first time while I hung out with my sister. She's on bed rest because the baby is trying really hard to come early and she's not full term for another week. She was in labor yesterday, but the doctors stalled it with medicine. It a was pretty exciting afternoon. Dinner was super delicious.

Chicken soup with homemade polenta over arugula and spinach with sausage. Then, of course, there was fruit with my usual massive amounts of whipped cream. The whipped cream is usually the best part of Sundays. Followed by hanging out with family all day. After dinner there was a heated ping pong tournament.

Boyfriend always loses to my dad. I think he's just being nice and letting him win so that my dad keeps on approving of him dating me. Now we are just sitting around being lazy. It's the perfect Sunday evening.

Have you ever played paintball?
Were your runs easy this weekend?

  1. How do you run while reading a magazine? I always feel too bouncy to really read the words! That's crazy about your city being so dangerous for pedestrians!

    1. I have no idea how I do it, honestly! I've always been able to. When I was running 7-8 miles a day on the treadmill people would ask me that all of the time. I think the bouncy aspect is why I stick to magazines and not books that I really need to pay attention to! :-D

  2. Bless your soul for surviving 70+ minutes of running on a treadmill. I think my longest was 60 but it wasn't fun...I always feel like it is much harder to run on the treadmill at paces that I can easily run on the road!!

    1. Hahaha, thank you. I feel that way too. I always do my longer runs at an 8:00ish pace, but it feels SO hard at the beginning. I know I could be going faster on the road.

  3. Wow, your pedestrian accident rate is terrifying! I'm glad you're safe and treadmilling it. I did a 20-miler on the treadmill once because it was an icy, blizzardy mess outside. I was training for Boston and had just read a Runner's World story about a woman who ran on an icy day, broke her leg, and had to miss her first Boston. I was scared and treadmilled it. So I feel your pain!

    1. Yeah, there seems to be a pedestrian killed at least once a week here. It's terrifying and sad. Luckily, my neighborhood isn't too bad, but for my longer runs, I have to leave the neighborhood. And that story would definitely be enough to keep me inside on the treadmill for a 20-miler!!!
