A Birthday Party

This morning I woke up extra early to get my long run in because yesterday was the boyfriend's grandma's birthday and we had big plans to eat a lot. I mean spend the day with his family. My run today wasn't the most pleasant, but I kept telling myself that I got to eat cake when I was finished.

We got to his mom's house and the house was bustling with tons of people. His aunt and cousins had stopped over night on their way home from vacation at the most magical place ever, so it was really, really fantastic to see them. The food was ready for us and the spread was beautiful.

The food in my mouth was even more beautiful.

I just realized there is a fly on my plate in the picture. I did not eat that. I did, however, partake in the best part of the meal.

Gluten free cupcakes with homemade chocolate frosting. And his grandma was turning 29 again. The youngest great grandma ever.

She opened presents and had lots of extra help ripping open the paper.

Then we spent time playing with the children in the sunshine.

Boyfriend is a really fantastic uncle and spends his time acting like a child when they are around. It melts my heart.

The boys ran around hitting each other with noodles. I tried to play, but those foam things actually really hurt.

Then we practiced playing Greed for when we journey to the most magical place on earth in 2 weeks. I will post about this island in the coming weeks because it deserves it's very own, but Greed is always a good time. And the boyfriend always wins. I won ONCE out of the approximately 4200 games we played last summer.

We then plied into the van for a trip to the beach. I got to look at this the entire 10 minute ride:

He's the cutest thing I have ever seen. When we got to the beach it was overcast, but that didn't stop us from sitting and watching the waves.

And the baby playing in the sand.

We also saw a flock of pelicans which is really awesome. I don't think I've ever seen that before.

It was sad to say our goodbyes, but we are visiting them again in 2 weeks, so that's something to look forward to. We sped off to my dad's house where there was more food waiting for me. Can't complain.

Tomorrow marks my 3rd week of school out of 4. It's all downhill from here. Until August when the actual program begins.

    1. Greed is also known as Farkle. It seems super complicated when you first start playing, but after awhile it becomes so addicting. Thank you! I am amazed at how fast the weeks fly by.
