Feeling Like an Adult

Some days, I completely forget just how old I actually am. I am closer to 30 than I am to 20, but it typically doesn't feel like it.

Then there are days like yesterday when I really feel like a grown-up. My bride friend was leaving today to go back to college, so my sister invited is over to her house for dinner. We were all standing around, cooking like adults and having mature conversations. And we made this spread.

At one point in the night my sister said, "Wow, I almost feel like a real adult." And she's the one with a 7-month-old. I felt exactly the same way. Some days, it just hits me that I'm not a kid anymore, and it's liberating and terrifying at the same time.

Not too old to play dress up at an "Evita" cast party.

Then, we had class tonight where I got sent back to elementary school, and everything felt normal again.

In other news, someone got neutered today. He has been wandering around with the cone of shame. He keeps wandering into walls because he doesn't realize it's on him.

Poor guy!

Happy Tuesday!

Do you ever have moments of really feeling like an adult?

  1. Yes, I agree. I've been feeling like an adult for some time now...lol. Probably because I'm 32. ;)

That spread looks super delish! And I hope your furry friend in the cone of shame feels better soon. :)

  2. I don't think I'll ever feel grown up. We're contemplating buying a house. I'm like, no, we're not old enough for that!!! Or mature enough, for sure! lol

  3. I feel really "adult" when I am older than my student's parents. I feel like they should be the age of MY parents. But no.

    1. I have a student whose mom is my age. I teach high school. I'm 28. On a similar note, though, I felt really old the first time a student's dad sat down at parent-teacher conferences and I thought, "Oh, he's a hottie." Ha.

  4. I have been having these moments all the time. I'll be at a friend's house and we are cooking dinner and I'm like "WOW! We didn't need our parents permission to come here. We are cooking our OWN food. When did this happen?"
