Healing Powers

I've been feeling a little down lately. I think I am feeling scared about starting the new job. I feel like I might screw up and disappoint people. I know I shouldn't feel this way, but I'm all about being honest on social media. Nobody's life is all sunshine and unicorn farts! Luckily, this weekend was all about doing healing things. Saturday I spent the day at the river.

Unfortunately, due to the terrible drought we are in, the river we go to is incredibly low. When it gets too low, crazy green algae that kills dogs and makes humans really sick starts growing. This meant we were unable to get in the water. It was 90 plus degrees, so we ate lunch and stared longingly at the water.

Then we drove back closer to home. We do have a river running through our town, it's just usually too cold to sit in our bathing suits and tan. But it was gorgeous on Saturday, so we spent a couple of hours tanning.

Little Z has learned how to use a straw and it's too cute. It's super healing to watch my little girl grow up and learn new things every single day!

Later that night, my mom and I went to the beach to watch the sun set.

The sound of crashing waves and the colors of the sunset make me never want to live anywhere but the coast.

I sat and spent a lot of time just breathing in and out, trying to calm myself. It worked and I was able to sleep for almost 11 hours last night.

Today, my long run was done solo. I did find a friend though.

Running is always healing. Hilarious texts from my friends who are also starting their first teaching jobs tomorrow are healing as well. I am so lucky to have people in my life who love and understand me. I know I'm going to be just fine!

Also, thank you for the concern about the earthquake! It was actually about 4 hours south of me, so we didn't feel it at all. Everyone around here is just fine!

  1. You're going to be awesome at your new job! Everyone is nervous at first. You'd be weird if you weren't. Heck, I just started year 8 and I was still nervous the first day of school. But you're clearly a gifted teacher, so try not to stress too much.

  2. Girl, I get it. I still get stressed and nervous. Year 10 for me. I was ten times as nervous 10 years ago. It is a horrible feeling and the only advice I can give is to relax. You work so hard and love your job. So you will be awesome. And you know what? If you screw something up, you're going to screw it up whether you are worrying about it or not. So don't worry, be happy mon!

  5. Don't be scared...I'm sure now you're a week in or so and feeling better anyway. But yeah, the nerves are NORMAL but are also totally liars...because there is nothing to fear and you're going to be great! Your heart and soul is in this! You can't go wrong!
