Running- After my PR at the half marathon, my body was beat. The day after, I tried to do a shake-out run but failed miserably. After that, my weekly mileage decreased quite a bit. I wasn't training for anything, and life got in the way. Spending time with new friends became much more important to me than running high mileage weeks. My body loved the break (and by break I mean I still ran every day, just at a slow-to-me pace and about half the mileage I was doing before the race). Now, I am back to loving running again. With the vacation, I have more time and energy. Plus, my life has settled down a bit and I can focus on running. I did my first double digit Sunday since my half just yesterday. It felt great!
Lifting- I still lift 5 days a week. With running less, I was able to focus much more on weight training. I have begun adding more weight or trying a new lift every time. I was getting bored with my same ol' routine and decided switching it up was good for me. Apparently it's been working because when I put on my bridesmaid dress, it was actually a little too big which made for an awkward night of dancing.
Outdoors- It's no secret that I am slightly obsessed with being outside. For awhile, I was getting to the gym and then spending the majority of my days outdoors. It has been amazing. I cannot believe how healing the ocean is just by being around it. Nature truly is my temple, my therapy, my calm place. And lately, that's what I've been needing.
So yes, I have been exercising at least 30 minutes a day every day still. I am thinking of adding in a weekly recap of my workouts like a lot of bloggers do. We shall see how that pans out.
How have your workouts been lately?
I love how you mix it up and stay active every day. I'm glad you're still at it!!
ReplyDeleteThanks lady! I love how you mix things up too. I love reading your exercise recaps.
DeleteI'm super impressed by your workout streak. You're awesome. I'm glad you took that running break and let your body recover a bit!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am glad I took that running break too. I needed it more than I thought I did. Now running doesn't seem forced. It's something I need to do to stay sane again.
DeleteYour outdoor pictures are sooooo beautiful. So 30 min a day... do you rest at all? Like even the day before your races, etc?
ReplyDeleteThank you! I really do feel lucky to live in such a beautiful area. I have exercised 30 minutes a day every day since December 30, 2012. At the beginning of my challenge, I told myself that 30 minutes could be anything where I am moving my body, like a walk, dancing, stretching. It doesn't have to be hardcore working out. I took my first "rest" day on Saturday during the wedding. I did not do any formal exercise, but I was on my feet all day. I probably walked 5 miles and then danced for 2 hours straight. So, to make a very long story short, I don't take rest days very often, and when I do, they are active rest days.
